Also what I took away from the end of roe v wade was that people kind of shrugged and gave up and it became a state by state thing. Which is also understandable bc what mechanism is there to advocate against or appeal to the Supreme Court?

I hate being a doomer about this but like I just don’t see why it wouldn’t go exactly the way roe v wade did. That case had longer precedent although idk if that matters seeing as SCOTUS just reverse engineers the arguments to get the ruling they want

- there were probably at least 10 staff and also a consultant at the open house, which ran for 90 mins not counting setup and takedown. x4 sessions = ~60 staff hours. one has to question if this is really a good use of their time (which is $$) for something that should be a formality….

- i saw a handful of people who came in opposing density, with complaints ranging from wind tunnels, shadows, neighborhood character, transit causes crime (????) etc. while they tended to monopolize staff time, i also felt like they came off a tad desperate and paranoid, at least to me

- event wasn’t very busy, I think there were not many more ppl who came in than staff. I was shy and didn’t talk to anyone other than staff but my impression was that there were a fair number of ppl supportive of density who attended.

So it seems like even city planning staff don’t know all the details of this effort very well. To be fair it seems like a huge a complex effort and they seem to have specialized roles, but did it have to be so huge and complex in the first place??
January 28, 2026 at 5:16 AM
- the zoning implementations seem overly complex, most times I had a question for staff (e.g. what permissions apply in a P/MTSA outside of the 500m line, what are the proposed setback ranges for neighborhood apartments and do they vary by area) they had to refer me to a colleague

Still a massive line at 1:30pm. Apparently the tracks are being cleared by hand!! I hope they can do it by the evening rush hour.

Couple buses turned out of the station snd picked people up. But still a huge crowd in the curb. Normally the shuttle operations are a lot more organized
January 26, 2026 at 1:23 PM
I mean so I actually don’t think I’ve seen a shuttle bus pick anyone up in the last 20 mins. Buses have gone by but without really picking anyone up. What’s going on with the shuttle buses? The police have now showed up now too it seems, maybe to help with traffic and crowd control
