Insecurity induces potential migrants to compromise on job suitability, making them more likely to accept occupational downgrading. Conflict-induced mobility can therefore limit gains from migration.

One key insight: Can SP aggravate or lower conflict? It depends on:
- How SP affects the Opportunity Cost of violence
- How SP shapes attitudes viz. government, rebels
- The capability of armed actors (esp. rebels) to scuttle/ appropriate programs or inflict backlash

Implications: Let workers & employers figure out the best mix of flexibility and wages that works for each situation. Uniform approaches may not be optimal even within a firm - different workers may value & require different levels of flexibility, which can be adjusted wrt wages

Q: Are workers in #Malaysia willing to forgo a part of their earnings for flexible work arrangements (Working from Home/ choosing own work hours)?

A: Yes! More so in the #gigeconomy than in standard employment. Flexibility concerns may drive selection into gig work.

We find a high Willingness to Pay for SI coverage - suggesting a limited role for subsidies/ matching contributions, and more emphasis on channelising the WTP into regular payments thru flexible & default options & complementary private insurance schemes documents.worldbank.org/en/publicati...
