Nationwide has pledged to keep all branches open until 2030!
With other banks closing, this commitment matters. In-person banking is vital for those who need access to cash & local businesses.
Ownership matters too - this has happened because they are owned by members

Today is World Diabetes Day. I’m proud to support @DiabetesUK’s call to #StrikeOutStigma. No one should face negative attitudes because of diabetes – yet 8 in 10 people say they have, and it’s affecting the care they receive. This must change.

Those who served gave everything for our country. Labour’s Veterans Strategy makes sure we stand by them.
🏠 £27m for a nationwide support service
📈 Dedicated help to end veteran homelessness
🏥 World-class NHS care for veterans
Because our heroes deserve nothing less.

Everyone deserves to feel safe at work - abuse should never be part of the job ❌

This is a really important campaign by Usdaw Union and that is why Labour have made it an offence to assault a shop worker as part of the Crime and Policing Bill

War memorials tell the story of sacrifice & service.

Many need urgent repair; so I welcome the £2m funding announced by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to protect them for future generations.

We will never forget

Great turnout at Bolton's Armistice Day memorial this morning, with the Town Hall and Market Place beautifully decorated. Over 2,500 in Bolton South and Walkden have served in our armed forces. I want to thank them all for their sacrifices to keep us safe.

Today, on Armistice Day, we pause for two minutes’ silence to remember all who fought and gave their lives for our country and freedoms. I especially honour those from Bolton South & Walkden, and across the UK, who serve or have served in our Armed Forces. Your courage and sacrifice will live on.

Yesterday I laid wreaths in Kearsley and Little Hulton, with Cllr Aalaina Khan laying a wreath on my behalf in Bolton.

It’s important to me that I attend a different service in my constituency each year to remember all those who served, fought and died for this country

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Congratulations to @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social on an inspiring victory.

His campaign spoke to what matters most - tackling the cost of living crisis, standing up for working people & challenging inequality.

A reminder that politics works best when rooted in fairness & hope.

🎮 Nearly 200,000 people signed a petition on video games & consumer law. I joined @BenGoldsborough in Monday’s Westminster Hall debate to stand up for fairness.

If you buy a game, you should be able to play it. It’s time to update the Consumer Rights Act.

I spoke in Parliament to support the Public Office (Accountability) bill.
It’s about truth, fairness, accountability & making sure families like those affected by scandals like Primodos, are never forced to fight alone again.

Proud, as the UK Trade Envoy to Egypt, to see the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

A world-class celebration of Egypt’s heritage and a testament to the strength of UK–Egypt partnership in culture, tourism, and sustainability.
The Grand Egyptian Museum by Heneghan Peng Architects in Giza is a breathtaking tribute to Egypt’s ancient heritage. As the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization, it bridges timeless history with contemporary architectural brilliance.

Awaab’s Law will support over 13,000 people in Bolton South and Walkden by requiring social landlords to quickly fix hazardous homes. Emergency hazards must be addressed within 24 hours, especially Damp and Mould. This is for Awaab Ishak and upholds tenants’ rights to safe homes.

I visited the Willow Hey Breast Cancer fundraiser in Farnworth Last Week and met some truly inspiring women.
Their stories reminded me why early detection matters and why we must continue to support services like the Bolton Breast Screening Unit.
Thank you to everyone who made the event so powerful

Emerging evidence from El-Fasher is horrifying.

Systematic killings, ethnic targeting and mass executions are being described by human rights experts as a continuation of the Darfur genocide.

The world cannot stay silent while atrocities unfold in #Sudan.

Reform and the Tories voted to pull Britain out of the European Convention on Human Rights. This was Churchill's legacy after WWII. I proudly voted against this attack on our freedoms. Britain must not become a pariah state. #HumanRights #Europe
