Graphic novel recommendation:

Coma, by Zara Slattery

Very compelling story of her experience & the juxtoposition between that of her family's in the waking world. A stunning piece of art.

I may post some of my art from my own coma experiences, I'm feeling inspired! 💚

I'm on a brain surgery programme and I think that's pretty cool - I'm excited, in fact! Those I've told cannot comprehend this & I just see them trying to think of the 'right' thing to say. Maybe it's concern idk, but will someone share my excitement pls😂✨️🧠

I feel like people don't respect the aftermath of being in hospital as much as they should. The second you leave, too often the world considers you 'fine now', 'better', when in reality it can take weeks or months to return to 'normal', if that's even possible.

Happy world #arabic speaking day! Check out Al-Jazeera's post 🙌

'One of the biggest contributions the Arabic language has made to the world is in the fields of mathematics and science' 🔬

On this,'The Golden Age of Arabic Science', by Jim Al-Khalili is a great read! 📚
From A for algebra to T for tariffs: Arabic words used in English speech
Arabic is spoken by more than 400 million people. Can you recognise these Arabic words that made their way into English?

My happy space is amongst creative science installations & a store near me is filled with them(!) There's a connection between interactive science, community, environmentalism & accessibility which I will always value 👻💕

How cool is this?! An art/infographic replication of a community project, which brought people into the woods to explore nature, how it made them feel, down to how certain trees made them feel, then analysed by demographic. Great focus on accessibility too 💚 🌳

Happy #caturday !
This ginger lad comes to visit, we now have a bird video for him to watch to distract him from stealing our food
He watches it on repeat & it's the first time I've ever beaten a cat at its own game 😎

Today, I'd recommend looking into anhedonia:
- Lack of motivation
- Lack of enjoyment/pleasure

Many neuroscientists think it should be a 'condition' in its own right & it's a good point of validation, self-exploration, and/or learning some neuroscience/psychology 🧠💜

Someone donated a bunch of old film/polaroid cameras in perfect condition to a charity shop for £5 each. Maybe I got all of them, maybe I didn't...
Anyways this is the one I'm most excited to play about with, totally not just because of that lens (😍)

Celebrating Rosalyn Yalow on #WorldDiabetesDay.

Yalow, a physicist, co-invented a super-sensitive test (radioimmunoassay, or RIA) that uses tiny amounts of radioactive tags to detect exact levels of insulin in blood--& won the 1977 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for it. #WomenInSTEM

On #WorldDiabetesDay, we’re highlighting the reality for people living with #diabetes in Cox’s Bazar refugee camps, in #Bangladesh.

Our teams support patients by providing self-monitoring tools, insulin pens and clay pots for safe insulin storage without electricity.

The last time my disabilities put me in ICU, the trigger was airborne infection. Lucky to be alive.

Imagine ppl with disabilities all shared their own anecdotes, then maybe you'd understand a bit more 💜

In science workshops, my favourite 1st activity is giving students a box of items and asking them to find the most complicated way to use them to drop 2 balls into a cup.

Science is inherently creative - from developing hypotheses to using new equipment. Arts & sciences go hand in hand!
