Another progressive media outlet is closing its doors. :( I am grateful for the 5.5 years of solutions stories I got to publish at @yesmedia.bsky.social. I'm a talented editor, skilled and collaborative journalist, and I have great story sense. Please feel free to send leads or make intros!

Oh noooo, this is awful news! 💔

YES! Media's stories are exactly the kind we need more than ever right now.

It's just so painful that the very unjust systems they're working to dismantle have made it impossible for them to keep operating.

I’ve read YES! for the past 25 years, and am grateful for its decades of powerful media-making, and its guiding light in the realm of solutions journalism. Such a sad loss.💔

I published this piece for @theflytrapmedia.com in January. It is now May and YES! is sunsetting.

I will soon share more about the amazing team running this publication and how we can support them in their next chapters. But for now, I am in deep grief.

Indie media simply deserves better.
freeblackgirl.bsky.social
By the way, I now run YES! Media, an indie movement publication focused on radical solutions and—surprise, surprise—it, too, is often struggling to survive.

If you can support legacy publications that spew transphobia, then please consider donating to indie publications.

There’s so much to say and too little room, so I’ll let my LinkedIn post speak for itself.

Thank you to @freeblackgirl.bsky.social for opening the door for journalists like me and making way for solutions-accountability journalism. I am forever grateful.

So sad, I have read and supported this media for so many years, excellent reads with no ads, just the journalism with voices around the world.

Thank you to all of our readers, viewers, and followers for your support over the years.

In the coming days, we'll share how you can support each of our staff members in their next adventures—because the industry needs them.

Stay tuned. And never forget that a better world is possible. 🥹 💔

This was not the outcome we hoped for—but it follows years of tireless efforts to find a sustainable path forward.

We are heartbroken but we are also incredibly proud. Proud of what we built. Proud of who we built it with. And proud of the impact that YES! has had on the world.

People in the United States are accustomed to the current U.S. regime being compared to the rise of the Nazi regime in 1930s Germany. But there is a much more recent example that offers just as many lessons: post-revolution Iran.
