👆 All my bullshit.

Loved it. Had a great spooky time and the film was just gorgeous.

I loved the heros makeup and all the costuming, and that super16 was 👌

More movie monsters should be puppets. The Vourdalak was more unsettling than Nosferatu. Gave big téléfrancais Anana vibes.

Our 31 for 31 was delayed a week due to a wedding so we’re carrying on the Halloween vibes until further notice.

Tonight’s film, Le Vourdalak (2023)

Started watching Bring Her Back and it was so try-hard we turned it off.

Started Suitable Flesh and it felt like a soap opera, so we turned it off.

Decided to not risk a new movie and put on an old fave.

Bro The Void is so fucking good.

Strange Darlings is rad as hell

Part erotic thriller, part slasher, part jumbled up jigsaw puzzle.

I loved it. First horror film I’ve watched this October that got me really fired up.

Nobody Wants This is an okay show but it’s 100% another one of those naming things like Disney Frozen where Netflix is trying to court and redirect negative Google trending words.

Hopefully getting beaten back to the moon by China will get America’s head out of its ass

Tonight’s #31for31 film:

Late Night With The Devil (2023)

Love Dastmalchian!

31 for 31 movie of the night: Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)

“Nothing wrong with G-rated movies, as long as there’s lots of sex and violence.”

Twenty years ago, Squaresoft of Final Fantasy fame tried to do this.

Aki was meant to be the first digital actress. She would appear in many movies and become a star unto herself.

It, uh, didn’t go great.

It’s the first week of October, so you know what that means…

All three have smart zombies which I’m against on principle, but it often ends up feeling exciting and different in practice.

31 for 31 movie of the night: Land of the Dead (2005)

I get that this is a “bad” movie, but I enjoy watching it. It was the only zombie flick that came out during this era that was set well after the outbreak, and it had a lot of fun ideas and world building.

No classic, but worth revisiting IMO

31 for 31 movie of the night:

I Saw the TV Glow (2024)

Haven’t seen this yet but everyone was talking about it!

Starting my 31 for 31 with tonight’s film: Slaxx (2020)

Canadian indie horror about a pair of haunted jeans that goes on a killing spree.

Bloody nonsense.

A cool thing about this movie is my cousin Erica plays one of the pant’s victims!

Happy 20th birthday to Serenity (2005). Basically the best sci fi adventure movie based on a cancelled tv show ever.

I think this film holds up like crazy, and is a master class in exposition script writing.

I remember seeing it on my 17th birthday, & I’d never seen Firefly.

Love at first sight.

I’m not a terribly eloquent person, but I wrote an email to some MPs today about the upcoming postal strike, and I based it on this skeet.

If you wanna copy it, maybe mix it up and make it yours, by all means.

Especially since they’re using old shots of Zeb from the show to promote the movie…

I think what the creators are trying to say is that all the kaiju battles and hauntings and alien abductions are just set dressing for a story about young love.

And they fuckin’ crush that part, oof.

There’s a lot of talk about what the title “Dan Da Dan” means, and they’re all good theories, but I think it’s simpler:

It’s the sound when your heart skips a beat.

If you're scrolling through the internet and find one piece of optimism, one thing that makes you feel a little better...

Log off immediately, and hold on to that shit as tight as you can.

That said — his work was truly amazing and so unique.

We watched The Last Showgirl (2024) as well and there’s a bit where Kieran Shipka’s character does this really uninspired choreo, and I think that was the point of the scene, but it really stood out with all this other stuff in my mind.

Just finished a month long exploration of Bob Fosse. All That Jazz, Cabaret, and then the show about his life FOSSE/VERDON.

It was really cool to learn about what made his work so unique, but during the show, I had to rely on my dancer partner’s brain and Wiki more than I’dve liked.

My dog made me late and then he didn’t feel like walking home. Luckily I came prepared.
