the nameless glitched deer in ffxiv and stuff like it makes me think of the dragon glitch when the first nier raid came out and drakengard fans collectively, kinda understandably, lost their minds for a bit.
the "dying dragon" only showed up if you didn't finish a specific dark knight quest iirc.

The original concept for the Behemoth was called an "Io". Due to its inability to efficiently hunt, it was to be categorized as livestock. However, its creator, Kleon, gave it enlarged muscles, horns and the ability to cast Meteor so that it could be an apex predator.
