texted three of my classmates like 'hey what are you all doing for this presentation bc i have no idea what the prof wants from us' and was gratified with three immediate replies of 'oh SAME' 😊 this does not solve our problem but at least we're not alone

the thing is. "the sun doesn't physically harm vampires, but has some other visible effect that risks outing them to humans" IS actually an intriguing idea! it's just that "sparkly" is sort of the worst possible option there
