✦ I'm making pearlessential!

It's an isometric, JRPG-inspired, exploration game. All about a rather peculiar exam.

Happy #TurnBasedThursday! I'm a little late to the party... Thanks for hosting!

pearlessential is an isometric #JRPG with no levels or experience points!? I've been working on environments lately.

I need to get started on a GOG page for it haha 😅

I've set up most of my negative status effects to persist outside of battle. Like the poisoned status in Pokemon does. I'm also tweaking some of my weather conditions so that they can passively apply negative status effects.

In pearlessential, I want to have party members sometimes be available to talk to in the world. I added this 'doppelganger prevention' system to help with that.

I felt really good about this level as I was sketching it, but I'm unhappy with how it obscures itself. Wish I noticed that when I was sketching lol.

Shops now let you immediately equip items after you buy them.

More tweaks to the shop system. One thing I've been working on is letting the player sell straight from their inventory if they are standing near a merchant. The system works but the UX could be better...

I kinda understand how interactive snow works, but it would be nice if it's didn't need so many subdivisions...

Dialogue fast forward and a message log. I need to tweak how fast forward works on scenes with special instructions though. You can kinda see the camera act weird in the second dialogue sequence.

Added a simple popup system, It's mostly be used for tutorializing, but I might also use it for light confirmation in some places...

Still slowly working on the game... just sorta lazy with posting. Here is a look at the title card UI. I feel like it's missing something though...
