the more i get into freud/psychoanalysis the more their discrediting seems like a psyop to me, esp if ur alternative is current psychology/therapy culture. weird that the latter with it's belief in a 'normal' psyche is seen as more emancipatory vs the former's assertion that there is no 'normal'.

sometimes i feel guilt over devoting myself to art rather than something more 'useful', but then isn't that the violence done to art under the current fucked up state of the world? forced to be political, functional, real, commodity etc

I'm suspicious of the belief in the perfection and beauty of maths/logic esp in connection to programming, bcos if there's anything I've understood about it, it's the amount of hacks/workarounds/'ugly' solutions required to produce the effects of seamlessness

the way post-left types rail against one world order liberal 'globalist' progressive domination, while also advocating enlightenment values of objectivity, Truth, staunch anti-relativism etc, as if these things are somehow in opposition should be enough to undermine the legitimacy of that position

the way 'spiritually' gets swung around like a blunt tool basically across the board rn feels very of the moment lol. 'spiritually dead', 'spiritually important', ensouled, ontologically xyz, etc

sophie's music still distinguishes itself from a lot of what's been downstream of it by how palpably unreal it is, that it isn't actually so airtight and immaculate as it's talked about (even though it might aspire to that). it has a strange illusionistic mixture of hi and lofi.

there's something slightly weird and terrifying in a peering-into-the-abyss way about review sites and seeing all the accounts of people who experience vast quantities of art, grade it all, write reviews, and yet seem sort of unbothered by it all

one of the weirdest things abt online art discourse esp around music is the total antipathy to comparison, like as if comparing/finding connections is this violent move done to diminish the sacred individuality of a piece of work (or worse, the artist)
