Glad to see Jimmy Kimmel’s show returning tomorrow night after his suspension.

Free speech shouldn’t depend on who’s in power — just like freedom of conscience shouldn’t depend on which religion holds sway.

That’s why FFRF proudly defends both.
Breaking: Jimmy Kimmel to return Tuesday.

Survey in 2010: Atheists, Agnostics Know More About Religion Than Religious.
I'm going to assume this is probably still true.
Anyone got a link to more recent research?

Survey: Atheists, Agnostics Know More About Religion Than Religious
A new survey shows that Atheists and Agnostics are more knowledgeable about religion than most practitioners. Close behind in the survey were Jews and Mormons.

I'm staunchly pro Horseradish.
Horseradish: spicy & hardy! 🌿💥
Grown from root cuttings in rich, loose soil—plant in spring, harvest in autumn. 🌱
Used since ancient times (even by the Greeks!) for its fiery flavour & medicinal kick. 🏺🔥
Grate fresh for sauces, meats, or pickles. A root with a bit of a bite! #Gardening

Early humans migrated out of Africa to populate the entire planet. Every human on this planet have ancestors originating from Africa. This is true, whether you like it or not!

Religious texts are rarely moral. They only become moral if you’re lucky enough to have an ethical preacher to cherry-pick the good bits to bring to your attention. The text in the hands of the average person is just as likely to deliver you into the thrall of a cruel dictator.

Religion teaches us that you can’t have morality unless you believe in magic. While that’s not true, it does seem to be true that people who believe are harder to persuade with reason and evidence so moral arguments are so much harder to make.

I love Imagine by John Lennon. Many were surprised it was played at Jimmy Carter's funeral. I wasn't. I'm amused - & often disturbed - by the meaning some Christians give it (& how it's portrayed in Forrest Gump). Here are my thoughts from 2010 about it: youratheistmuse.blogspot.com/2010/11/what...
What "Imagine" really means
I love the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. You all know the lyrics, so I won't quote them. Plus, if I do, Yoko Ono might sue me. And I don't ...

"True joy, love, and compassion is possible without religion -- I have certainly experienced all of these much more once I embraced my Atheism than when I was trying to believe in a magical, invisible friend."

So happy to be here. I'm an Atheist. A Secular Humanist. Godless. As you like. I'm joyful. I'm curious. I like celebrating science, learning history, being inspired by the natural world & being surprised, even comforted, by humans not being jerks. Blogging since 2010. youratheistmuse.blogspot.com
