Playing history. Filmmaker and Designer of “Chicago 68” and “The Nights of King Ludd”
Pinned
So excited to finally have a copy of CHICAGO’68! Last week I had a chance to lay it all out and run one last round of usability checks before we go to print. Pleased as punch with the results:

Court rules on the orthogonal vs. diagonal debate:

"To avoid the ranch’s property, all Brad and Phil and the others had to do was move around like a checkers piece. They’d start on public land and then make sure to stay on public land, by crossing into new squares diagonally."
The Checkerboard - 99% Invisible
In 2019, hunters Brad Cape and Phil Yeomans were scouting for elk in southeast Wyoming when they came across a rocky peak that seemed perfect for elk hunting, a suspicion only heightened by its name: ...

Played “The Bell of Treason: 1938 Munich Crisis in Czechoslovakia” by @petrmojzis.mastodonczech.cz.ap.brid.gy, with development by @joedewhurst.bsky.social.

Experience with Red Flag Over Paris definitely gave me the advantage!

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

On Public Radio this morning:

“Guest: I have some friends in the industry and a game that they're really excited about right now was called Chicago ‘68. It is a tabletop game based off the Democratic National Convention.

Host (confused): Sounds like fun…

Guest: Well, for some people it is.“

A Tale of Two Chicagos: one, in the throes of revolutionary struggle, the other, crushed under the boot of state power.

(love seeing two simultaneous games of Chicago '68 at my local game shop!)

Reading this morning: Eurymedousa, mother of the Myrmidon, was seduced by Zeus who had transformed himself into an ant. An ant. Leda and the Swan, ok, ridiculous, but ok. An ant. Greeks…

Federal agents used chemical weapons on Chicagoans at least 49 times — even after a judge said to stop.

Contrary to federal claims about attacks on agents, most of these incidents appear to involve nonviolent protesters or bystanders. blockclubchi.co/47PoaXb

Happy Dick Cheney is Dead Day. He tried to get Kamala over the line. She thanked him by name during the debate. But it just wasn’t enough. “What do we believe?” A whole class of people laughing hysterically and slamming the door in everyone’s faces.
