While I think this is often true, it also elides another critical point: professional designers often don't realize how smart and capable people are, espeically people who don't play games. 🧵
It cannot be overstated how much hobby gamers underestimate how unintuitive and difficult hobby games are to non-gamers.
This is perhaps even more true of professional game designers, publishers and reviewers/pundits, broadly speaking.

I can not overstate the excitement & validation I felt when Votes for Women was featured in the Washington Post Book section. Treating games like literature is an important phase of credibility for our medium.

I am looking for recommendations for good historical documentary series. I loved the classic World at War (1973, narrated by Laurence Olivier) and really was impressed with End of Empire (1985, Granada TV). I have been super sick the last three weeks and am need of something solid to watch.

There's never a shortage of people willing to play Nazis in WW2 games, but no one ever wants to be the forces of patriarchy here.
