imperfect, justice-centered, goofy. dad, partner, virgo, all-around nerd.

working hard to make this a place where I can come for hope and joy. all my posts will reflect that.
Listening to the radio with 4yo.
4: Who sings this?
Me: Maggie Rogers
4: Is Maddie Roberts a boy or a girl?
Me: I’m not sure.
4: Maybe they’re both. Probably singers are both.

We heard the rumors. Maybe president panican will declare martial law, maybe he won’t. But do you think this clown car of incompetent sycophantic signal leakers can keep all 300 million of us down? Absolutely not. We will not comply. Here’s some advice from Oliver Kornetzke. Let’s get weird.

Just started my 4th consecutive 6-month planner which means I’ve planned my day (almost) every day for EIGHTEEN MONTHS. Truly incredible accomplishment for my little brain.

Reminder: You can just…do stuff.

You don’t have to wait for your boss to tell you to. You don’t have to wait to be told you’re good enough.

As long as you’re not hurting anybody, and especially if doing it would help somebody… you can just do it.

I offered to make dinner for a friend’s birthday and she requested “my” lasagna, which is: (1) not mine, it’s an old family recipe and (2) is my very favorite thing to cook for other people. #todaysjoy

I love these mints and I’ve been rationing them because they’re only available around Christmas. I ate my last one a few days ago. Today I found a second pack, unopened. #todaysjoy

I’m kind of fascinated with people who can keep a clean car. Especially if they have pets and kids. Where are the ground up Goldfish crumbs? No little pebbles in the car mats? No snack backpack??? Everything you need is in your glovebox??????

This guy cracks me up. Constantly looks like the saddest plant in the world - brown edges, wilty. But still puts out blooms every week like clockwork.

Today’s joys aren’t in photo form, but here’s a list: kickball, old and new friends, sun and sweat, baby snuggles, 4yo asking me to lay down with him, and a good playlist.

Yesterday’s joys were harder to spot. I was pretty down all day. But I forced myself to take the kids outside, despite the crustiness I felt. I peeled the bark off many sticks, drank iced coffee, and watched 10yo forage for edible plants. I still felt crusty, but the joy was there too.

Working on a series of projects this spring to inundate my region of Philly with action-item-based messaging focused on biodiversity.

One of those is a sticker!

This is an attempt to break down any emotional barrier to gardening by city dwellers. You don't need a green thumb, ya know? Just try it!
