I urge you to note here how much of British politics and media - and indeed British culture in general - is just bullying, and little more. It’s a daily exercise in enforcing the social hierarchy by reminding everyone who they can and cannot kick. That’s why our most famous sitcoms are like that.

He's having a busy day - just been listening to him at work in Leicester

Indeed we do. It'd be great if some of the white bishops said it too...

By the time I finally retired it, the cardigan had at least 20 mends on it. It became a sort of history of my mending journey and increasing skill.

It finally got a bit too fragile to wear regularly, but it now gets the occasional outing as a visual aid for mending workshops.

True, for prompt responses etiquette is not linking your book in every post because that's spammy (and is why author chats leave promo till the end.

Your best bet there is searching up your title and not giving your book (almost) the same name as 30 others in your genre (yes I have seen that 🙃.)

Could well be. One of the criteria for being classed as a "major parish church" is significant Civic role but they are mainly in towns

Ugh. An obvious cause or just general stress?

Like a mighty tortoise moves the church in Wales
Like the church of England completely off the rails
Brothers we are treading where we've always trod

I've come across it in many places around the country.

One argument I used to make to my students about why it was important to learn history (and historical thinking) is that someone was always going to be trying to tell you things were natural or had always been this way and that you needed to be able to see that as an exercise of power.

(My brain has gone blank for the term in register offices) which is a sheet of A4 prepopulated with details and then that goes to the Register Office who enter the details onto the national register and issue a certificate. I've dealt with the start of this but not the end

So pre pandemic you all signed the two copies of the legal register and then the registrar issued a certified copy of that (in practice in churches at least it was common for everyone to sign that too). They were a certain size that long predates A4. Now you have the marriage document (in churches)

We have. Possibly. The new marriage documents etc are A4 though I don't know what the couple get from the Register office afterwards. But what they sign in church is now A4
