If my writing this here even makes a tiny bit of difference, I'd appreciate it.

To tourists visiting Ginza in Tokyo, and entering department stores, especially the basement floors where they sell all that food, look around, I doubt you'll see a local person gobbling or slurping stuff.

WSJ reports that the Truth Social message Trump directed at Pam Bondi, about indicting Jim Comey, was meant to be a DM. Asked about the post, Bondi told senators, "I don’t think he said anything that he hasn’t said for years.” We might see that remark, among others, in Comey's motion to dismiss.
Inside the Justice Department Where the President Calls the Shots
The president has executed a wholesale transformation of the Justice Department, taking control in ways he could have only dreamed of in his first term.

During a Senate hearing, Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, falsely described habeas corpus as the president’s “constitutional right” to deport people. nyti.ms/3H1DXXS

Trump (1) reveals he doesn't know what habeas corpus is and (2) punts to Noem, who famously revealed her own ignorance at a Senate hearing when she defined habeas corpus as "a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country."

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Jack Smith was investigating Trump's efforts to overturn the election, and Trump is now prosecuting the former FBI head to settle scores. Apparently, these are equally bad and Smith caused Trump's retribution spree.

I spent more than a decade at The Post. It was good to me and I was proud to work there. I’ve largely refrained from being critical since I left. But this framing of the special counsel probe is embarrassing and flatly wrong. Stunning, but not. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
Opinion | Jack Smith’s lawfare and James Comey’s arraignment on pathetically weak charges
Good people will be deterred from public service if they see a meaningful risk of winding up in jail afterward.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.

Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

This does provide some insight into how the Truth Social sausage gets made.

The note in front of Trump says: "We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first."

NEW: President Trump says Israel and Hamas have signed off on “the first phase” of the US/Middle East brokered peace plan. Says all the hostages will be released “very soon” and Israel will “withdraw…to an agreed upon line.”
