Makes me wonder how much the techbro accelerationists like Thiel and Andreesen—who want crises that help their ilk consolidate power—are driving the Administration’s wrecking ball tactics.

Beyond horrifying. We all bear collective responsibility for failing to control guns and allowing this to happen.

Doomed to fail — preteens and teenagers don’t have investable assets, and they don’t pay their own wireless bills.

What’s the point of having power if not to use it to stand up for those who are more vulnerable? That time is now Dems! When the racist goes after your colleague

They should keep up with this strategy. It’s unpersuasive and exposes their other lies

At least they didn’t use a Tolkien reference on this one

A good benchmark may be what executives receive in other public service positions that expect giving up some compensation. (E.g., executives of majors nonprofits, mayors or admins of large state and local government entities.) That could easily justify salaries in the $400-600k range.

Alongside other incremental costs associated with congressional service (e.g., reimbursements for additional personal security costs).

While it's a tough balancing act, my gut tells me that $1 million is excessive -- the number is so far beyond normal salaries that it'll undermine public confidence.

My preferred approach is a more modest salary increase, coupled with some reimbursement for the cost of maintaining a DC residence.

They'll continue to stick a fork into the power outlet over and over again, and they'll come back with their hair singed every single time

As someone to the right of AOC who used to be reluctant — I think this is the right take.

Great politicians like AOC don’t just take voters as they come. They have the power to persuade.

That’s not hyperbole, too. The offices tasked with assessing pollutants and regulating toxics are now led by former industry insiders — e.g., trade group leaders.

The stock photo set does end like this, though . . . .

I’m not even sure it’s a calculated political move. I think it’s just that Zohran is THAT charismatic

Dress like it’s the 1940s so you can roll minority rights back to that era

Isn’t harmless error a doctrine for appellate review, though? I don’t know that Halligan can invoke it when a district court is ruling on the sufficiency of an indictment.

I’m sure the tacticool Molle water bottle holder wasn’t common in Fallujah either
