I’m glad I went to BYU, but I had some questions about my faith during my time there, and worrying about the honor code office while I resolved those questions didn’t help.

If a friend was a faculty member facing similar questions, I would advise them to find a new position for their own sake

I feel like people don’t care all that much.

In the presidential primary, I switched party registration to Republican so I could vote against Trump.

If 10% of registered democrats had done the same he would not have won

Also, a good amount of our social interaction permanently went away. Churches never refilled after COVID, people stopped interacting with as many people because of WFH. A lot easier to insulate yourself from people you don’t agree with

I would guess that a good portion of racist accounts are run by people intentionally aiming to destabilize western societies

Having a good sense of “are there >500 articles on the internet for the thing I want to talk to an llm about” is really valuable

I think it’s probably just a reflection of the fact that:
1. Priorities in education are changing
2. We should be thoughtful and make sure that we are not hurting ourselves by not caring about things we used to care about

Jokes aside, I think this could be a really cool product that could enhance learning!

Ah, I was assuming that the 10% of unsorted elements would be randomly dispersed throughout the array. I chose a sub-array of length 4 because the desired success probability 99.99% =1-0.1^4

Is this just something like:

is_sorted = True
start = randint % (len(vec) -5)
for i in range(start, start +5):
if vec[i] > vec[i -1]:
is sorted =False
break

👎 but can’t put my finger on why. Maybe “as good of” seems wrong?

LLMs will probably be the closest we’ll ever get to having a conversation with someone who lived 100 years ago

Here’s an article for anyone who might be curious.

The proposed policy required extra justification for billing for long surgeries to reduce fraud or exaggeration, similar to Medicare/medicaid.

A big insurer backed off its plan to pay less for anesthesia. That’s bad.
What the fight between Anthem and anesthesiologists was really about.

There are definitely tractable ways we can improve our healthcare system, but we won’t find those on social media.

Incentives are too high to get a good zinger in against someone, and no incentive for finding a good solution.

There’s a lot of work between a research study and real-world implementation. Different hospitals use different machines, and it can be tricky to design systems that are actually useful/relevant to doctors

Please don’t condone violence or intimidation, this will not improve things in the long run

Happy to have a good faith conversation on why Eichmann’s “doing his job” is much worse than a CEO doing his job, if you’re interested.

We cannot make our economic/healthcare system better through violence and intimidation. That will only destroy it.

I definitely agree that violence should not be used on peaceful protesters
