Excited to present my @cyberwarcon.bsky.social talk this year, “On the Meta-Hermeneutics of GRU Phishing Campaigns, Or: What We Talk About When We Talk About John Podesta’s Risotto Recipe”

Have you ever wanted to see two terminally online nerds really (and I mean *really*) get into the SVR deep lore while continuing the eternal goal of making 2016 last forever?

Gosh does @cyberwarcon.bsky.social have a talk for you!

I want to be clear that I’m joking, but there are lots of amazing-sounding real talks!

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

one of the most challenging aspects of nonfiction narrative, I think, is the strategic withholding and introduction of information at the right time to propel a story. To soon or too late, you risk confusion, hijacking the narrative, or leading the reader to a cul-de-sac. a constant tangle!

Last week, new WaPo opinion editor Adam O'Neal quietly carried out another purge of staffers, cutting editors and major names like Marc Fisher and David Hoffman, among others.

Meanwhile, he welcomed three conservatives to the section.

Adam O’Neal says he’s bringing “intellectual diversity” to The Washington Post’s opinion pages—but the moves he’s making behind the scenes tell a different story.

Opinion different than news? With reporting being a distinct skill set requiring deft management from skilled editors who understand the complexities of the process and how to shepherd stories to completion while maintaining high journalistic standards? Wow, Im hearing about this for the first time

Not an expert on this stuff but I have the sense that no one backing Weiss understands that what she has done her whole career, opinion-based news-flavored content, is distinct from news reporting.

Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."
