you hate Musk and Altman because you think they symbolize the horrible technology that's stopping you from living in a capitalism-free, untainted utopian druid grove and growing all your own food, and I hate them because of how they pervert the glorious humanity-liberating force that is technology

My brother, you have to keep reading. What does the post say? Did it “work” if only 10% of the projected supply was actually built?

Here’s a vivid example. bsky.app/profile/step...
In 2018, then-Mayor Ada Colau called Barcelona’s new 30% inclusionary housing requirement for projects over 600m^2 a “paradigm shift,” making housing “a right and not a commodity.” It was supposed to produce 330 affordable units a year. The reality: just 31 affordable apartments in all these years.
Cuando se ha aprobó esta medida dije repetidamente que iba a ser un fracaso y que no construirían nada de vivienda asequible. Se ha probado en mil sitios y no funciona.

Acerté. www.lavanguardia.com/local/barcel...

I understand your point. It’s bad! Myopic focus on ensuring that (1) the trickle of housing supply goes only to the “deserving,” and (2) making sure home builders never turn a profit is what creates the conditions for the abuse in the first place.

If you want receipts here’s a thread with a bunch of examples. bsky.app/profile/zane...
Essex Property Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ESS) is a prominent real estate investment trust (REIT) that focuses primarily on West Coast markets because of “significant barriers to new supply, such as strict zoning”. pitchgrade.com/companies/es...

Fun fact: Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) are legally required to disclose the threats to their businesses. Know what consistently tops the list? Increasing the supply of new housing!

What do you like about it?

I’m using the Wikipedia definition, which is about as standard as it gets: “Imperialism is the maintaining and extending of power over foreign nations, particularly through expansionism…” Lenin agreed that Russia’s behavior qualifies, though he preferred to call it “Great Russian chauvinism.”
November 22, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Oh, honey. You seem to have either not read the context or misunderstood it. Lenin is furious that Georgia was treated as an appendage of Russia, referring to it as "the Georgian nation," denouncing the use of "physical violence," and recommending "exemplary punishment" for those responsible.
November 22, 2025 at 12:30 AM
Here’s Lenin himself: “It is another thing when we ourselves lapse … into imperialist attitudes towards oppressed nationalities, thus undermining all our principled sincerity, all our principled defence of the struggle against imperialism.” He knew it was imperial conquest, but kept Georgia anyway.

Maybe reflect on whether recognizing a neighbor’s independence, opening diplomatic relations, defining borders, and pledging non-interference *as a ruse* only to later annex them against the wishes of their populace qualifies as imperialism. If it helps, pretend it’s the United States doing it.

This is ridiculous cope. Georgia declared independence in 1918. Russia recognized its independence in 1920. Lenin sent the Red Army to crush their democratically elected and wildly popular (81% of the vote!) government in 1921. They still celebrate that Independence Day today.

Might be an unusual sample, but my queer male friends seem to use retinoids and sunscreen at way higher rates than my straight male friends.
