As an older software software engineer, I fully concur. But it shouldn’t really shock anyone because software development, like almost everything else, is driven by benefit/cost analysis and Pareto principle…

Good advice! Though sometimes it’s important to try to read to the end of a book simply for your own education, for example, to experience writing from earlier centuries, which can be a very different style of writing and language.
