Today, I was honored to join my colleagues in renaming the 10th Ave bridge as the Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic Memorial Bridge.

Sen. Dziedzic demonstrated how to lead with courage and how to deliver for Minnesotans. This bridge is a monument to her service.

I’m proud that my speed camera pilot program is now being implemented.

This will protect Minnesotans by reducing reckless driving and speeding.

These cameras will capture the license plates of speeding drivers and the city will mail a ticket to their home. So, drive carefully!

We need an assault weapons ban in Minnesota. 60% of Americans support it, and Minnesotans want to get it done.

Call your State Senator. Call your State Representative. It’s up to us to come together and make it clear that this has to be the top priority. We CAN do this.

I’m in awe of all who testified today. These stories are powerful and heartwrenching, but they are essential in grounding this debate in lived experience. My bill to ban assault rifles would save lives. We know these kinds of laws work. It’s time to pass one in Minnesota. (2/2)

Today, the Senate Working Group on Gun Violence Prevention held its first hearing today, where I presented my bill to ban assault rifles. I am so grateful to the families and the local leaders who showed up today to testify and share their experience with gun violence. (1/2)

My generation knows too well that action to curb the gun violence epidemic should have happened decades ago. I’m honored to serve alongside Senator RonLatz as co-chair of our gun violence prevention working group and ready to bring real change to keep our kids and communities safe.

Joint Statement from Senator Ron Latz and
Senator Zaynab Mohamed
(ST. PAUL, Minn.) - Senator Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park), Chair of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee and Senator Zaynab Mohamed (DFL-Minneapolis, will lead a working group they are establishing on comprehensive gun violence prevention efforts that respond to and prevent future tragedies like the one that happened at Annunciation Church Wednesday. The effort will be focused on gun violence, hate prevention and mental health along the lines of proposals announced yesterday by Sen. Latz.
"This horrific act of violence requires real action that meets the moment. Together with our colleagues, we will make gun violence prevention our most urgent priority and prevent anything like this ever happening again in any community in Minnesota. We hope that our fellow legislators join us in this critical work, and that we come together to put politics aside and put solutions in place that keep our kids and communities safe."

Our beautiful Southside was struck with horrifying gun violence this morning at Annunciation Catholic School.

Grateful for the response by law enforcement and EMTs providing care to those in need.

The Trump administration is actively attacking the University of Minnesota , student rights, civil rights, and free speech — especially scientists, women, people of color, and Muslims. Kowsar is all of those things and much, much more.
