True, Elden Ring is one of those games that are truly fqntastic on a first playthrough, but each subsequent one become more and more tedious. Theur next game will likely be smaller in scope, so hopefully better replayability (like with Armored Core 6).

That is because it is an expansion, not a dlc. Expansions like SOTE are specifically for those who have already played through the game and want more of it (it being endgame content).

Having the message or themes be in your face can be amazing when handled well. Case in point: Metaphor: Refantazio.

It's frustrating because SOTE is genuinely incredible, but it only works as, well, an expansion the base game. It is not an independent thing and should not be in the running for GOTY. However; Metaphor, Balatro, and Astrobot are fantastic and as long as one of those 3 win I will be happy.
