Excerpt From St. Petersburg with Love - chapter 15:
The sense of unease grew the further they walked through the darkening street. For about a decade, Viktor had not set foot into this street. When he entered Vasilyevsky, he took other routes. His unease buzzed like a vespiary, completely unlike the thrilling swarm of butterflies that flew up whenever he looked at Yuuri. The light faded in fast motion.

Yuuri’s dark eyes wandered over the facades as they strolled along the street. “Which house is it?”

“This one.” Viktor pointed to a baroque building fifty metres down the street. The front was decorated with stucco and a massive balcony. “But we still have a few minutes left to give Makkachin some exercise.”

“We’ve walked all the way here.”

“My parents value punctuality.”

“Oh,” Yuuri said softly. He tightened his grip around Viktor’s fingers.

He’s nervous. He’s relying on me knowing how to navigate this visit. At least that was something to focus on. Viktor put on a smile. “Don’t worry, Yuuri. They won’t have you for dinner. My parents are vegetarians.”

“I’m not nervous,” Yuuri said, but the way he buried his face deeper in his scarf said it all.

“You’re nice. You’re polite, and you’re educated. Not to forget you’re handsome.” Viktor winked. “They will adore you!”

“It’s just…” Yuuri stopped. The part of his cheeks that was visible above the scarf had turned red. “I’ve never met someone’s parents. I mean… except for friends. We have rules for this in Japan. How am I supposed to behave?”

Smiling, Viktor brushed a strand of hair off Yuuri’s face with gloved fingers. “Just be your usual wonderful self.”
