So they made a non-decision again, moving further away from both of them so their smoke streamed away from Moxy. "Did you make any progress on your painting at least?" Rose asked.

For a moment they let themself believe that she was truly happy there with them, that they'd been able to capture a common, mundane moment between the two of them, instead of a reluctant, forced photo.

I've struggled with this in the past with friends trying to put me into a box I wouldn't choose for myself. It's hard because certain dynamics do tend to become the default, as well as certain types of people. Often the biggest lesbians creators have a similar look and dynamic since a certain body type, race, and dynamic make them more palatable. Therefore looking for friends/ community around these lesbian spaces feels like you're left out if you're not ablebodied, thin, white, and stereotypically mase/fem or butch/femme. I think the best way to find community with lesbians is NOT to seek out lesbian communities since these often platform or promote a single look which leaves the majority of us out. I find the best way is to look for other lesbians within communities you are already part of, artists, writers, fandom spaces etc. But I also just want to say, as someone who has identified as a lesbian for 12 years now, all lesbians are lesbian enough. What we see online is a symptom of larger issues within queer spaces and social spaces as a whole. My favorite lesbians I know don't fall into a certain category. My partner and I don't, and in fact most of the lesbians I know wouldn't. Labels within the identity are good and fun, but that's not all we are, and that's also beautiful and okay! Because I may not be femme but I AM still a lesbian at the end of the day and that's enough. All that to say, I see you, I support you, and if you ever wanna talk, I'm here for you to be your community in whatever way you'd like that to look.
