He would have been 88 today. The third birthday without him and I'm the biggest mess yet. Grief's expiry date has long gone but like him and the 20-year-old food we had to throw out, I clearly don't care much for expiry dates. I'll never not celebrate this man who gave me everything. 💌

Met the WONDERFUL Elvis Costello last night at #abbavoyage who let me wang on about my introduction to him via the mix tape my music-loving form tutor gave me when I was 15, & yes, much like this post, it was a story without end, but he was so kind, I had to gabble my joy at you like I’m 15 again ♥️

Made gruyere and anchovy puffs last night (but sardine for an anchovy-hating husband), from the amazing @lickedspoon.bsky.social’s Notes from a Small Island Kitchen. So frickin delicious, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have an outdoor picky tea without them.

Eid Mubarak! Missing my dad particularly today and the fish & chips we’d celebrate with. Mother’s Day as well & remembering also the chocs my single-parent pop would sweetly accept and then immediately place in a cupboard for regifting, often back to me, at a later date. Funny and warm to the end.
