I've seen the Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara make some reasonably measured statements, but the MN Fraternal Order of Police immediately put out a pro-ICE statement. I'm sure Jonathan Ross has many supporters among MN cops.

Over the past month, while Federal law enforcement has been doing their job in Minnesota, political and community leaders have condemned and vilified them. The hateful and anti-law enforcement rhetoric by Mayor Frey and other politicians have made their jobs and those of local and state law enforcement more difficult and dangerous. The job of law enforcement is difficult and dangerous enough without the agitation by leaders in our state and communities. When citizens are accused of a crime, they are given the presumption of innocence as afforded by due process. When there is an incident involving law enforcement, politicians and activists immediately condemn those involved and are scrambling for sound bites. They do not afford them the same due process but rather convict them in a public court of opinion while an investigation is barely beginning. The Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police condemns these attacks on law enforcement and calls on politicians and leaders to stop the anti-law enforcement rhetoric and to ask for calm while the facts come out. #FOPSTRONG National Fraternal Order of Police ### The National Fraternal Order of Police is the oldest and largest law enforcement organization in the United States, with more than 382,000 members.

The MN police have made it clear that they will stand with ICE over MN residents. So I'm not sure it would even matter if Frey deployed the police.

@nytimes.com are you familiar with the word "corruption" and can you please use it in a sentence? In like *all* the sentences describing Trump's illegal self-dealing as president?

The NYT lede was framed well: "Trump Tells Top Brass US Cities Should Be Military Training Grounds" but when I click on the story in the app, it's replaced with this sanewashed, sterile headline about "Familiar Partisan Complaints," which is closer to the Post's. So they get half credit.

Not sure about here on bluesky, but Newsom definitely posted on X. I think maybe it doesn't show up in a search because he didn't specifically mention her by name, instead linking to the video of Walz during a press conference.
