For any of the armchair warlords out there arguing that Americans aren’t taking this seriously unless we start commit actual acts of violence, keep your bad opinions safely ensconced in your neck of the woods.

Peaceful, relentless organization is our ONLY hope. Not civil war or guerrilla fighting.
I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

This tracks with the on-duty National Guard members I interviewed while covering the October No Kings march in DC. They did not want to be associated with ICE or immigration enforcement and were hoping that the public understood the difference.
In a long, scathing interview, a member of the DC National Guard accuses the Trump administration of "parading [us] around to intimidate people." He talks candidly about what his deployment has been like.

Disgustingly ignorant comment, just completely untethered from historical reality. There are people with traumatic brain injuries, amputations, and PTSD in all of the countries that fought alongside us.
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

I've been calling and writing my representative for a week now and he finally announced he's going to support the articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem 🎉

I'm guessing I was one of many persistent voices.

Today I called and emailed to THANK him— positive feedback matters, too!
There are now at least 100 House members signed on to our effort to impeach Kristi Noem.

Where the hell are the rest of them? Let’s ask:

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Have you called your rep today? It's not too late (leave a message)!

Email works, too. Find your representative by entering your zip code at the link below.

'Why aren't they in the streets' is answered almost every day in my small town by people in the streets! Rather than asking 'why aren't they in the streets' it's worth asking 'why isn't your media showing them in the streets' and 'who is served by downplaying resistane in its myriad forms.'
The idea that there are no protests in the US and no one is standing up to Trump is proving incredibly hard to kill over here in Germany. It’s become dogma, utterly detached from empirical reality.

I wonder if the people who keep talking like that understand they’re perpetuating regime propaganda.

hey world, if you think Americans are only doing No Kings protests every few months... I don't blame you because our own media doesn't show us the DAILY protests in every state.

We've been on the streets for a year now. We're massive; it'll never look like European resistance, but we are out there!

A great read, and an important reminder: we're the ones coming to save us.
I wrote about how from Chicago to Minneapolis to wherever is next, more and more it's very clear that we are all we have. And maybe that's enough. dansinker.com/posts/2026-0...

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

In Trump's telling, the US are the equivalent of the Nazis
Trump: "No nation is in any position to be able to secure Greenland other than the US. We're a great power. Much greater than people even understand. I think they found that out 2 weeks ago in Venezuela. We saw this in World War 2 when Denmark fell to Germany after just 6 hours of fighting."

“Rather than acting as a tax on foreign producers, the tariffs functioned as a consumption tax on Americans.”
