This is apparently VERY common with the current generation of Apple Pencils. If you don’t maintain some charge at all times, the lithium ion battery will essentially lose its ability to hold a charge, permanently.

Unless you BEAT IT AGAINST A TABLE, that is.

I left my Apple Pencil in my bag for months and when I fished it out today it wouldn’t charge past 2% - a telltale sign of a dead battery.

I left it charging all morning, but to no avail.

Instinctively, I then beat it vigorously against the table. Now it charges.
