(he/him) Physicist, software engineer, atheist, vegan, Zen practitioner, prog/dub/metal/punk/silence type. Englishman, pro-EU (UK needs to Rejoin ASAP). Oh, and cats. Definitely cats.
Lincoln Cat does this most days. I notice your cat immobilises your right hand, whereas my Lincoln always goes for the left. Maybe it's a girl/boy thing.

Kids used to be able to roll their own cigs, too, back in the good old days before the Woke Brigade ruined everything and denied our toddlers the simple pleasure of a rollie.

Lincoln Cat. Possibly the daftest cat ever, but highly amusing and very sweet. #Cats

Nesting with Earl Cat on a warm sofa, away from the darkness and cold outdoors. #Cats

I decorated the "Spitfire Stash Tin" as a Christmas present last year, starting with an old ClimbOn hand lotion tin from my rock climbing days. Colours based on Airfix's 1:72 Spitfire Mk I kit. 1:72 decals by Printscale. Tin by ClimbOn. Art by me. #HistScaleModels

Volunteering at front of house at #Autisticon2025 today, with all four "communications preference" colour pin badges to show that I'm staff. Autisticon is lovely! I'm absolutely shredded now, from all the people, but it was worth it, and I have two days of doing nothing to help me recover. #Autistic

On 24 April 1992, 20 year old undergraduate Greg made a note in the margin of his Maths lecture notes, to check out "Groups, Representations and Physics" by H.F. Jones. But he never did. 53 year old Greg, however, has the spare cash to buy a copy. Now, can I actually remember any of my Group Theory?

Deface them.

Coins can be... modified. When the then-government of the UK issued a series of coins celebrating Brexit, even though most UK citizens no longer supported it, I bought a set of die stamps.

Natto, food of the gods. I had to go shopping in the city centre today. It was noisy and stressy and overstimulating, but I bought what I needed. My reward is this bowl of gorgeousness!

I made up a little song about how stupid my cat Lincoln is, and it's so catchy that now I have it as an earworm. Instant karma for mocking poor Lincoln, I suppose. Mind you, he is quite stupid. #Cats

The M3 Stuart is done! British desert army, 1941 style. Kit by Academy, tracks by Friulmodels, everything else by me. Such a Heath-Robinson looking little tank (the M5 Stuart is much cuter)! I had fun with the tools, the Caunter camouflage scheme, and the interior. #HistScaleModels

Here's my cat Lincoln, looking insane. He's a very weird, stressy cat, with some odd behaviours, but underneath it all he's a massive softie. He loves cuddles, if he decides the time is right.

I thought it was high time I posted something cute, for a change! The Norwegian flag is a souvenir. #Cats

Tommeh Ten-Names gets 110,000 coked-up drunken louts to parade and attack coppers for him, and the BBC's all over it. The Stop Brexit campaign held several marches with way more attendance, including one in 2019 with at least 700,000, with no violent disorder, and the BBC pretty much ignored them.

I live in England, and I like to fly this flag from my house to annoy all the right people.

Pin wash heaven/hell on the M3 Stuart. I'm certainly getting lots of practice. I'm going to avoid kits of vehicles with riveted armour for a good while, after this is finished. Anyway - pin wash is done! Just the final assembly, chipping and a sandy pigment application to go, now. #HistScaleModels

"Sentient beings are numberless; I vow to liberate them all.
Vexations are endless; I vow to overcome them all.
Approaches to Dharma are inconceivable; I vow to master them all.
The Buddha's path is unattainable; I vow to attain it."

Morning zazen. Happy Friday, everyone! #Zen #Buddhism

Yes, Earl, I just brushed this entire handful of fluff out of your coat. Don't pretend you aren't doing your autumn moult. #Cats #BlueSkyCats

Here's a humorous, non-serious idea I had for "helping" people maintain correct posture for zazen. Behold - the Bodhisattvatron (TM)! It's better than being beaten with a kyosaku, but not by much. Remember, folks - a bell is a bodhisattva! #Zen #Buddhism

Interior of the M3 Stuart done. "Good enough" = looks right when glimpsed through the fore hatches, once I've attached the upper hull. My chipping looks as if it was done with a blunt 2" chisel. Oh well - this is why I need an airbrush! So cramped for a four-man crew. #HistScaleModels

Here's a fine example of how flags can look good, especially when different flags fly together. Happy to do my bit for the flag-flying craze! #RejoinEU
August 24, 2025 at 12:31 PM
I've got no problem with flags, in themselves. They can look very pretty. I think they look best when different flags fly next to each other, though, so here am I, joining in with the current UK craze for flying flags.

I look after my EU flag. It won't be left to get tattered and turn into litter.

Yesterday I fell and injured my thumb in the shower, because I'd got distracted by explaining to an imaginary audience the Buddhist doctrine of the Trikāya. Earl Cat isn't distracted by concepts, though.
