Speaking of touchpads, every single one I've used supported that gesture when you double tap it without lifting your finger after the second tap, and that works as drag'n'drop. This plus click emulation on tap are the two most important quality of life improvements for laptop users.

This one is simple.

sudo apt install powertop
sudo systemctl enable powertop

Worth trying if not already done by the Slimbook utility.

Unfortunately libpam-u2f doesn't come with an associated pam profile in Pop! OS. The right thing to do would be to add a profile to /usr/share/pam-configs (and, perhaps, send a PR to the devs). But the highlighted line in /etc/pam.d/common-auth should do the trick.

Usually, all the configuration you need comes with pam-u2f package, and it's a matter of enabling it. In most distros you don't need to edit /etc/pam* directly, but enable the already installed config instead. How to do that is distro-dependent, though.

Have you tried adjusting powertop tunables? It can start as a systemd service, BTW. Last time I was trying to improve battery life, it made a world of difference.

Slackware is the Brainfuck of Linux distros (I will not elaborate)
