If you knew me then, you may know me now. We’ve all gotta get through this somehow
We have an Executive branch running on the rule of ”who’s gonna stop me” and “who’s gonna make me,”

and a legislative and judicial branch each whistling “not us.”

Tonight’s counterprogramming. The Princess Bride has always been there when I’ve needed it. Like now.

I’ve lost count of how many famous people we’ve lost this year at ages 78-79. Rob Reiner and Joe Ely just this week.

Real Presidents are models of compassion in the face of tragedy.

Better not shout
Better not cry
Better not pout
This is why:

Krampus is hunting you down!

Makin' a list
Checkin it twice
Cookin' you up
With curry and rice

Krampus is hunting you down!

This week marks one year since I left the Not-see Bar. I would've have even noticed, except for the thirst-bot email asking me to "come back and see..."

Nope.

Same goes for Meta.

Real Presidents care about the future.
I had fun reading to some Burke Elementary students at the Chicago Public Library today. When the Obama Presidential Center opens next year, we’ll have a new branch of the library for the community to enjoy.

Remembering 45 years ago when I heard the news about John Lennon and all I could think was “why?”

This “Black Friday” nonsense started in September this year. Tomorrow’s the day after Thanksgiving and it’s already played out.

As for me, I’m staying out of the capitalist orgy and focusing on what I can to do help others and put smiles on my loved ones’ faces. Care, not mindless gifting.

If someone had told me 20 years ago that Dick Cheney would not be THE obituary we were all waiting for…

**sigh**

Never been much of a MLB fan, but the drama of extra innings in game 7 right now…

Even without a dog in the hunt, it’s good to take my eyes off the world going to hell for just a few minutes.

@pwcdanica.bsky.social Was great to see you at Jirani tonight. Key point to stand on with data center profiteers: if they’re not willing to cover their buildings with solar panels, then they’re just not serious about being good neighbors. Don’t back down!

Diane Keaton might’ve been 79, but she never seemed to get old. Admired her since I was a kid, and still do.

Again, this was very much NOT the obituary we’ve been waiting for.

Government trying to censor speech because it might make someone's feelings all butt-hurt?

Sounds like some "woke" bullshit to me...

(Which it ain't, but that's between us here)

Redford had a unique quality in his screen presence: he was always believable. If he was involved with a project, on screen or off, it always seemed to be worthwhile.

Dammit, reaper. This *again* was not the obituary I’d been waiting for.

Tonight, there are two more kids in the USA who will go to bed never seeing their dad again.

I don’t care how repulsive someone’s political speech, it never calls for a death sentence. Killing someone because they say things you don’t like, disagree with, even find reprehensible, is cowardice.

Damn, Snoop. Can’t even explain two moms to your grandkid? Scared of an animated movie?

Definitely Not Gangsta’.

We’re not always such a “divided nation,” when a plurality of us can all agree that Cracker Barrel’s new logo experiment sucks.

However, I think this one hits the mark:

Dammit, Ozzy…

That wasn’t the obituary we’ve been waiting for.

Somebody please tell him that Biden’s cancer is the “best, most tremendous, wonderful cancer of any President ever.”

Then just wait.

If you have any heart to speak of, do not ever question his sincerity.
May 21, 2025 at 5:39 AM
If we’re going to spend time and energy and countless electrons poring over details of a President’s old age and cognitive decline, isn’t it more relevant - at a critical level - to take on the current one rather than the last?

“WE NEED TO REOPEN ALCATRAZ FOR THE WORST PEOPLE!”

Go on, keep making that bed…

A quiet Thankyou to the nice lady who was more than a few years my senior and charmed my ears off at work today. I don’t care if you’re probably older than my mom, you’ve got it goin on.
