I wasn't sure if I should say anything, but I saw so many posts like this yesterday, and I thought I might as well in case it helps anyone.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them! (5/5)

For colorists, there are also a lot of pages online that you can use for your portfolio. Your colors might be great in a single illustration, but editors need to see if you're good at storytelling as well, at coloring a whole scene, at consistency across panels, pages, etc. (4/5)

The people who might hire you need to see what the final work might look like.

There are a lot of scripts online which writers have provided for free, you could take some of those and draw a few pages. You could find a writer who also wants to get into comics and work together. (3/?)

If you say you want to work in comics but your portfolio only has illustrations, people have no way of knowing how you'd deal with a page. With a sequence of events. Comics aren't just illustrations with text, the format matters! (2/5)

Their social media always is good too, tho I don’t think they’re on bluesky. IG, FB and the badplace still work, so if email isn’t your thing drop them a line!

GenAi has NO place at Comicon, ESPECIALLY at art shows!

By doing so Comic-con signals to older and newer generations of artists that their exploitation and replacement is worth putting on a pedestal.👎

Anyway here’s their email. Feel free to politely share thoughts:

Comic-Con should be a celebration of illustrators, comic artists, writers and so on. Elevating the actual craftsmen and women who make the works that fans love!

Instead it opens the door to slop that can only exist due to the stolen work of those same creatives, to then displace creatives. Gross!
