Mostly just post about the books I read
I knew Sanderson had something planned for him way back when Wit referred to him as his apprentice. I’m really looking forward to learning more about the Night Brigade. I’m finally ready to read Wind and Truth! #thesunlitman #cosmere

I need to start working through his Dead Djinn stories. 5/5, enjoy this one in a sitting or over a weekend. #thedeadcattailassassins

visiting her parent’s home country and her own coming out. These are delivered at a YA level, but it’s a YA book. 3.5/5 #booksky #sheisahaunting

It probably hits better at that age. Picking up a campus novel felt nostalgic. This was my first DT novel, I found the way she wrote it very immersive.

It’s easy to understand why this book has been popular for so long. Definitely pick it up if you’re feeling a campus story. #thesecrethistory

That being said, Brown does an effective job building tension and enough with her world building that I would have been happy to read a full length version of this story. 3.5/5 #thescourgebetweenstars

The White Alice chapters were my favorite and gave me Southern Reach vibes, but that team’s purpose is vaguely left as climate research.

Overall, I think this is a good debut for Michelle Min Sterling. 3.5/5 #booksky #campzero

There are references to an oil ban, but the revealed consequences of that are limited to the perspective of an oil boom town and oil powered machines are still prevalent. There were several references to First Nations land treaties but no First Nations people included.

Exploiting Canada for mineral resources as eastern sources become closed to closed to us seems a likely future. The Flick is an effective warning of potential consequences of neural implant media devices.

However, there were hints at things I wish had been developed more.

I especially loved the full color inserts. The bookmark that came with it is my new go to.

I loved seeing them draw each other out of their isolation and working together to understand each other’s art and circumstance. Aliya Chen’s illustrations are a wonderful inclusion. They’re not only beautiful but add another layer of immersion to the experience. #yumiandthenightmarepainter #cosmere

I promise you, those former Republicans you’re following?

They’re not going to lead anyone to liberation. They’re just not.

You’re following George Conway but not a single Black or brown organizer in the South? What are you doing?

You’re following Rick Wilson but not a single trans activist?
