Today is a stark reminder that the major difference between democrats and republicans is that democrats will happily lay down to spread their legs under the imminent threat of dictatorship and call it a celebration of democracy.

Hallelujah.

People flocking back to TikTok like “it’s awful that we live in an oligarchy, hmph, someone should really stand up to them. Anyways, I’ll be back to posting daily just don’t expect me to be super happy about it 🙄”

Call me crazy but I think we should instead combine the blue states with Canada and Mexico to create an economic voltron of prosperity. There’s no reason to include red states they provide almost nothing to the gdp and are more a burden than anything.

Chris Ruocchio’s take on the line between science fiction and fantasy being relatively non existent because 99% of the “science” in hard SF is as fantastical as wizards wielding crystal staffs is soo true. Writers really should get back to looking outward instead of confining ourselves to the ground

I’d definitely consider myself a fan but the current Brandon Sanderson discourse about Wind and Truth has made me realize he’s the Taylor Swift of genre fiction. Fans being so violently opposed to criticism/ insisting the lore is uniquely profound and expertly crafted is pretty damn grating ngl

This is the year.

The last time I popped a bottle of champagne on new years, we had a global pandemic that lasted the first half of the decade. No chance it happens again…right

I read 100 books this year but haven’t yet received my internet clout. Is there a number I’m supposed to call or does it get distributed after the first of the year?

Sun Eater is literary fiction disguised as high sci-fi fantasy.

Squid game season 2 better end with the winner dying their hair blue

The Wizard of Oz is Isekai.

I’ve heard Sun Eater is something special for a long time but the way people were building it up lit my skepticism bulb like a Christmas tree.
Holy hell.
I was mistaken.

Finishing Wind and Truth on Christmas has left me with a surprisingly hopeful outlook on the future. When the next Stormlight book comes out I’ll be 43 and as daunting as that is to me now, I’m excited to know where I’ll be when I sit down to start the next chapter. Journey before destination.

The thing about me and Elon Musk is that neither of us have a degree in physics

The casual vs skilled player debate is funny because the idea that games should cater to both subsets is capitalist propaganda painted as ethical inclusivity. When a game is made for everyone it’s made for no one. You end up alienating both sides for the sake of maximizing profit potential.

Microblogging platforms are the bathroom stalls of the internet. Just a bunch of strangers reading the barely coherent scribblings of other strangers written on the walls while they take a shit.
Call 5556969420 for a good time.

Angela Collier’s new video “billionaires want you to know they could have done physics” is an example of a person so brilliant they can’t fathom the level of brain dead some people are. She was shocked to realize Atlas Shrugged isn’t satire. Had me cackling. Highly recommend giving it a watch

James Gunn just gets it. The way he marries humor with heart so expertly when the rest of the industry fumbles is truly a magic trick. The trailer is dripping with style and an unapologetic love of comics. Superman is the first hero ip I’ve been excited for in a long time

I have officially reached the point in wind and truth where I’m rereading paragraphs on loop because I refuse to bow to the mortal constraints of sleep with answers only few several hundred pages away

American capitalism works like a live service game where none of the weapons are properly balanced, its full of hackers from an anticheat that doesn’t function, and new players are placed against opponents that have all the pay to win blueprints while the devs say their failure is a skill issue

100yrs of solitude on Netflix is surprisingly good. I was expecting a grounded adaptation that inadvertently killed the subtle magic surrealism and symbolism to modernize it for non literary audiences but I’m happy to say that so far it seems to walk the line expertly without seeming hokey or daft

The NJ UAP situation probably isn’t aliens but I think we’ve underestimated the lengths reality will go to outdo itself in absurdity too many times in the past, so I’m not gonna rule it out just yet.

Intergalactic just took a sledgehammer to knee caps of the entire game industry.

We can’t keep letting Naughty Dog get away with this

If by some miracle BO6 wins multiplayer game of the year a lot of people are going to rage, and most of them are BO6 players. Personally I think it’s the best one they’ve made in well over a decade and winning a goty might allow the devs to negotiate w the Activision brain worms to get more dev time
