@zmaskm.bsky.social
a wandering vagrant on the internet

I do streams sometimes at twitch.tv/zmaskm
it's a petty stance of mine, trying to avoid Tencent's platforms

EGS, TikTok, fuck knows what else

probably everything, soon

I hate this mega-corp dystopian hellscape 🙃
December 2, 2025 at 10:43 PM
I can't stand the AI disinformation Spyware that is TikTok tbh

But that's becoming the entire internet I guess

Just off to another dark souls challenge run video
December 2, 2025 at 10:30 PM
that's a big fuckin' mood tbh

things are pretty rough and I'm just trying to see tomorrow sometimes, but I'm still gonna see tomorrow
December 2, 2025 at 9:26 PM
I'm seriously at a loss, but I feel like the overwhelming bombardment of information, disinformation, anecdotes, marketing bull, PR spins, and vapid "reporting" is a happy accident that prevents widespread awareness.

The mega-corps run the show.

Fucking lame.

Why is he allowed to keep lying and being a delusional fuck?

He just gets a massive platform to say the most insane and vapid shit.

Epic bought Bandcamp under false pretenses to use them as a weapon in a legal battle and then immediately sold them off.

WHY IS NO ONE PAYING ATTENTION?
December 2, 2025 at 3:14 PM
If anything, the Epic Games Store is actively devaluing games.

It's a platform that only exists because Tencent is a major shareholder in Epic Games and they smelled blood when Fortnite started making money.

Sweeny is a colossal moron and he used Bandcamp so blatantly. Come the fuck on.

Keep re-reading the history of WWII and the way religious rhetoric was used to manipulate the masses.

Keep re-reading that history.

We're actively reliving it right now.

Why is that so hard to grasp?
December 2, 2025 at 3:05 PM
I grow weary of bringing up the crusades, dark ages, and the use of religious rhetoric to fuel fascism, but it remains a relevant threat we aren't allowed to call out.

Religions are useful to the powerful who use it to manipulate.

I wish it wasn't true, but the history is right fucking there, man.

I'm not even bothering to talk about private schools and home schooling, because those are gigantic beasts in their own rights and are full PhD dissertations on their own.

American education has been cooked for decades.

Why are we acting like ANY of this is news?

You're just behind the 8-ball.

Look at academic performance in the projects and the ghettos.

Places where funding for education and capitalist life stresses are at their absolute worst.

Look at rural education.

Why is it so hard to connect the giant blazing dots?

Is it too bright and painful to look at?

Well...find a way.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
I think the blinders are on firmly with so many folks in relation to the education system, and nobody is really working towards actual, meaningful improvements because nobody actually understands just how many problems run so deeply and tangle with each other.

Folks...it's worse than you know.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
That same teacher did per-student lines at graduation, by the way.

He didn't shy away from being really rude and dismissive of students.

He did not, at any point, actually engage with any of us.

He wrote me off with insults rather than investigate the issues.

I wasn't the only one.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
This isn't a "student fails to understand" problem, but a "coursework is devoid of any insight or flexibility" problem.

None of us knew why we were doing the stock market thing.

There was no comprehension to be had.

It was just watching numbers the teacher liked.

That's not education.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
We wasted MONTHS on a "stock market project" in my economics class all because the teacher allegedly made money on stocks once.

We didn't actually learn anything about the stock market. We just had to watch numbers fluctuate and never had any meaningful discussions about any of it.

What the fuck.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Well, finance firms got calculus into public schools to devalue the skill to pay workers less and also to not have to train them as much.

Programming didn't enter schools "as a valuable tool" but to devalue programmers.

My guy, the school system is a tool of economics. That's bad.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
So you incentivize cheating and punish those who genuinely struggle.

Okay, now we have No Kid Left Behind...and EVERYBODY suffers, because it's just the Mexico City license plate ban in another form.

A "good idea" in a vacuum failing spectacularly upon entering the real world.

Cool. Now what?
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Teaching kids that they'll have to slave away outside of Work Hours (again, educational career, please follow me here) teaches them to min/max time, effort, and results...it doesn't actually incentivize learning the material.

Again; grades are ALL that matters within the system. Genuinely.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Kids don't get the point of education and school.

I don't know if that's a hot take, but it's an honest one.

Homework is, in my opinion, detrimental in a myriad of ways, but I find it difficult to properly assess the issues within the rigid and useless framework that's enforced by the system.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Those who had a positive experience throughout their public school career (and yes, I'm gonna call it that, I'm sorry) seem to be entirely blind to how exceptionally abnormal their experience is.

A lot of public schools are genuinely awful, and the result is...worse funding, which makes it worse.
November 30, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Teachers aren't paid enough and are often forced to comply with ineffective curriculum.

I will never forget being issued a repeat book report within the same school district.

Y'all, they're reusing book reports.

Four grades apart.

How is this not sounding ANY alarm bells?

How?
