ANU ‘dictionary centre is a national asset — once it’s gone, we lose a living record of our national voice’ theconversation.com/the-anu-is-m...
The ANU is moving to kill the Australian National Dictionary – this is why it matters
The dictionary is a living, breathing and evolving record of how language is wrapped up in who we are as Australians. It is vital we protect it.

Embarrassing:

“The newly approved North West Shelf expansion (until 2070) would not jeopardise emissions goals because the site is legally required to ratchet down its own emissions toward net zero”.

Of course, the ‘site’ doesn’t include exported emissions.

I love how, our coal exports don't impact world emissions, because if we don't export it someone else will. But our gas exports apparently do impact world emissions, by displacing coal.

Progress? Why does Labor's "climate action" look like this:

⚠️48,000 km2 opened for offshore Oil & Gas exploration
⚠️Sea Dumping Bill that'll enable high-risk CCS
⚠️ #FutureGasStrategy to 2050 & beyond
⚠️30 🤯 NEW Coal & Gas projects approved
⚠️$15B in fossil fuel subsidies for 2024-2025
In 2022, the Australian people voted to finally act on climate change

After three years of progress- in 2025 they said keep going.

Meanwhile, for two months, Israel has denied even a drop of water to besieged Gaza. That’s why our action with the Conscience was, and remains, vital. As governments stay silent and protect Israel from any accountability, it’s up to us to build a more just world - one that includes a free Palestine.

It is outrageous hypocrisy for any political party to commit to greater mental health funding,

while simultaneously maintaining "welfare" polices that create and exacerbate mental disorders, including driving some to suicide. #poverty #inequality #auspol
CW: mental ill health + suicide.

The welfare system kills people.

Politicians force us to live in poverty, then pretend to care with band-aid funding for services that do nothing to address the poverty & cruel welfare policies that drive us to despair.
