I am a constituent and very disappointed in this vote, @cantwell.senate.gov! Musk has killed hundreds of thousands of people with his gutting of USAID and put thousands of Americans out of work via DOGE cuts. You shouldn't let an ally of his anywhere near another govt agency.

What groups of workers is not feeling some sense of insecurity about their jobs right now? Genuinely asking.

Ok, I finished the whole article. The author got his wish. He's famous now! I just really wish he had taken a step back and said "Wow, this is how everyone else must have felt all along. Maybe I can help figure out how to ensure there's a place for all of us so none of us have to feel this way."

You mean the sunk costs that economists teach are not rational to include in decision making (although most people do consider, so there is a whole ass logical fallacy named after them)?? Those sunk costs?

I had missed that. Thank you for sharing.

Oh yes, I recognize that! As a prof who has been a TA in the past, I was just thinking about how this TA is also a (graduate) student themself, and a lot is asked of TAs already. This TA's actions are a testament to the students at Brown as well as the empathy humans are capable of generally.

I didn't post this as a dig on the prof. I am a prof, too, and spent most of yesterday (Saturday) ushering at graduation, where we have large groups of people and prepare for a variety of emergencies. No one in the university community should have to fear for their safety due to gun violence.

"Friedberg visited Rhode Island Hospital on Saturday night, where she said she spoke with her teaching assistant, who had traveled there to support several of their injured students." Wow, the TA was present at the shooting and then went with students in the class to hospital to support.
