I saw Daniel Lanois at a sold out show in Montreal last night and wow, if you ever get a chance to see him, go. A musician’s musician, still exploring. The set began and ended with an enveloping sonic vortex created by him and his trio and his longing studio assistant Wayne. Still reverberating.

Faster than light travel is possible… kinda. Distant galaxies are receding from us at superluminal speeds. How can that be, and how can we see them if they're flying away faster than the light they emit?

Stunning that the guerrilla benches cost $80 while a city-built bench costs $3400. A few years ago I tried to pay for one with a plaque for my late husband (he was born in Berkeley and worked at UCB) but got a message the city wasn’t installing any more benches.
