El Atlético de Madrid ha comunicado oficialmente este lunes la venta de la mayoría de sus acciones al fondo de inversión estadounidense Apollo Global Management, concretamente a Apollo Sports Capital (ASC), su compañía global en deporte. «El Atlético de Madrid y sus principales accionistas -Miguel Ángel Gil, Enrique Cerezo, Quantum Pacific Group y fondos gestionados por Ares Management- han alcanzado un acuerdo para que Apollo Sports Capital (ASC), compañía global de inversión en deporte de Apollo (NYSE: APO), se convierta en el accionista mayoritario de nuestro club», informa la sociedad anónima deportiva madrileña en su comunicado. «Como parte del acuerdo, Miguel Ángel Gil y Enrique Cerezo continuarán al frente del Atlético de Madrid como consejero delegado y presidente respectivamente, y permanecerán como accionistas, garantizando la continuidad y visión del proyecto y su liderazgo. Bajo su dirección durante las dos últimas décadas, el Atlético de Madrid se ha consolidado como uno de los clubes de fútbol más exitosos y reconocidos de Europa, logrando éxitos deportivos continuados, expandiendo su marca en todo el mundo y reforzando su compromiso con la comunidad».
