Flock does not reduce crime, despite the dramatic one-off-story. Flock has failed to provide independent studies that verifies their research on ALPR’s effectiveness. Yet Flock scans everybody. Expected glitches can lead to dangerous false detentions www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlHL...
Flock camera error leads police to detain wrong man
A Redmond father was handcuffed in his driveway after a Flock license plate camera linked his car to his son’s felony warrant. He says the system flawed.

Between the ALPR’s and widespread doorbell cameras, there is way too much surveillance capability that can be used and abused for national security purposes.

Today we served the #UniversityOfArizona a cease & desist letter as they are in violation of the Clery Act. The University never disclosed the surveillance of students, faculty & staff through the usage of 50+ Flock Safety ALPR's.

The Clery Act mandates transparency, something the University lacks.

False reports of gunshots during Jersey City's fireworks led to a stampede that injured multiple people. City officials aren't responding to requests for comment.

Jersey City uses Shotspotter. ALPR's have a habit of claiming fireworks are gunshots www.nj.com/hudson/2025/...
‘It was mayhem.’ Panic set off stampede at N.J. fireworks show.
The incident left spectators rattled and confused.

deflock.me has an interactive map that shows ALPR locations in your town and who operates them. I have noticed that the number of ALPR's has exploded and it's nearly impossible to plan a route that avoids all of them. Many of them have an "Unspecified Operator".

like, ALPR's are *way* more common than speed cameras, but typically aren't tied directly to enforcement and don't have this type of pushback

if the issue is non-warrant-based fishing expeditions in collected data, *regulate that*

ALPR’s are part of this new rage. Attitudes that you have no privacy in public needs to switch that when you’re in public that does not mean companies & other entities can use general public spaces for unregulated surveillance & data mining w/o consenting by affected whom dossiers are built on.
