Ableism & Suffering, 1/6🧵

Saying it would be better if disabled people were never born is ableist, even if it's "because they suffer".

Replace disability with gender/race in this context & the issue becomes obvious, but eugenics is so hegemonic that most people don't even KNOW the word "ableism".

#OneSideburn must "stand" alone on its own merit. /bad sad joke.

It is actually an anti- #DiversityEquityInclusion statement. /bad sad joke.

#AbleismSucks in any form.

Ehm… I am missing two more things on here, specifically:
- Disability rights are human rights.
- access to healthcare for all.

Fixed it.

Memes like this are a constant reminder that ableism is very real and that we still have a very long way to go.

I'm sorry you're experiencing even more barriers. I spent my entire career working with people with disabilities. #ableismSucks

I’ll try again tomorrow but this unfairness of the whole concertticket-buying process makes me incredibly sad. Like my partner needs his time to play his games for his mental health, I need my concerts for my mental health. Plus the voice of #EmilyArmstrong is amazing. #AbleismSucks #Wheelchair

This is now deep internalized ableism runs: I was a guest on a podcast called “Autistic Tidbits & Tangents” & just screened the YouTube video to make sure I didn’t “do anything weird” (ie stim) ON A PODCAST FOR ND PPL. I was worried I may have bounded or flailed too much 🤦🏻‍♀️ #ableismsucks
