Probably the windiest and wettest #BigGardenBirdwatch I can remember! Thirty birds recorded in our garden, including a stunning Jay. Gave me some time to brush up on how to age Blue Tits - it's always good to look a bit closer at the things you think you know so well #BGBW2025

Interesting that in my head we always get siskins and redpolls in the count, but actually, while we do always get them in the garden in winter, it's 2018 that either last made the BGBW count, and redpoll only actually once - 2014 - made it.

Better than last year with 17 birds from 8 species. Still below the average of 24/9. And when compared to the 2018 peak of 50 birds from 15 species, very sad.
