New Delhi, Jan 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted medical bail to self-styled godman Asaram Bapu till March 31. A bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Rajesh Bindal of the apex court extended the relief solely on humanitarian grounds to allow him to undertake medical treatment. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Gujarat government, submitted that Asaram should not be released since adequate medical facilities were already available to him in custody.

With the Rajasthan High Court refusing to extend his interim bail, self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who has been serving life sentence for raping a minor, surrendered at the Jodhpur Central Jail on Saturday. Asaram, 84, had been given bail on January 7 this year for the first time in 12 years of imprisonment in view of medical reasons. A high court bench of Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur had dismissed Asaram's interim bail plea during the hearing on August 27.

Asaram Bapu Bail: रेप केस में उम्र कैद की सजा काट रहे आसाराम को 31 मार्च तक अंतरिम ज़मानत मिल गई है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने स्वास्थ्य आधार पर आसाराम को ज़मानत दी है. कोर्ट ने साफ किया कि यह जमानत 86 साल के आसाराम की अधिक उम्र और खराब सेहत के आधार पर दी गई है.  इस दौरान वह अपना इलाज करवा सकते हैं.
