I understand your point about funding, but the toxic soup is British, I am afraid to say. When I lived in the UK, the between-the-lines arrogance was 'even' aimed at Nordics. The belief the UK is world-beating is not a trait of Boris but of the GB culture.

The one exception to all this in Scunthorpe the praise for the government on stepping in to save the steelworks, some were frustrated it took so long but almost everyone felt it had “saved the town”. Question is how can the Government or any party show they can do more like that
