#C128DCR
When I scrapped my broken #commmodore C128DCR a decade and a half ago, I kept the SID chip. Prefect for an Ultimate 64.

Checked it today. It's the wrong chip... I accidentally saved the CIA chip instead. Oops! 😊

Starting from the left and going to the right are the PET 2001-N, plus/4, VIC-20, MAX-04, SX-64, C64 Breadbin and C128DCR.

I believe the plastic C128D has the same board as the 128 but with the power switch and connector missing, and the keyboard connector is a D-sub instead of header pins, but the C128DCR is drastically different.

Such a GREAT text game by Infocom. Here is my copy. I'm playing it on my Commodore C128DCR.

I mainly play them on my Commodore 64 that I received for Xmas 1983. Infocom made 4 games that needed 1238K of RAM, so I play those on my Commodore C128DCR. I have played a few on my Commodore plus/4 and also Amiga 1200.

I’ll say the Z80 is a GREAT CPU. It was in my very 1st computer, Timex Sinclair 1000 in 1982. My C128DCR that I bought in Aug 1988 when I got back from West Germany also has a Z80. They added it to the C128 so that it could go into C64 mode. Since they added the Z80 they also added CP/M to the C128.

SWEET!! This was my 3rd PCs CPU. 1993 I sold my C128DCR, CRT monitor & extra drives. Used the money to build a 386SX25. About 6 months later I changed out the mother board and the CPU to a 486DX33. Then a few months later I just changed the CPU to a 486DX2 66. I kept it for awhile before 486DX4 100.

I kept my C64 at my mom's for 10 years while I was in the Army. I had a SX-64 in West Germany (86-88) that I sold right before I came back to the states. I used that money to buy a C128DCR at Fort Polk LA. Sold it in 1993 and built a 386SX25. I have required a C128DCR in 2021 and 3 SX-64s in 2022.

SWEET!!! My 1st PC was a 386SX25 with 2MB of RAM and a 120MB HD that I built in 1993. I sold my C128DCR and extra drive to get the money to build it. Soon after I added two more MB of RAM, so I'd have the needed 4MB to play DOOM.

NICE!! Did you see that in 2022 a team released EOTB on the C64 and C128 after working on the port for 16 years. It's SO GOOD on the C128 and I use a 2nd monitor to have the game map always up using the VDC 80 column video chip. Top row is the game on my C64, 2nd row is on my C128DCR.

Beyond Zork used the new EZIP interpreter so it needed 128K of RAM and also an 80-column monitor. Because of that it would not work on the C64. That was the main reason I bought a C128DCR so that I could play these games.

This is a great episode from @10marc.bsky.social not because he mentions me a couple of times… noooo. He’s telling us all about the awesome C128DCR and the Ultimate 1541 II cart. Well worth a watch (especially since in PAL 🤣)
This week, I am doing another episode of "The ChickenHead Chronicles", my 8 bit series. Join me as I explore Gideons Ultimate 1541 II cartridge in my #Commodore 128. There is fun to be had!

Playing the brand new Commodore 128 game (you read that right) "Iowa Jack and the Crystals of Chaos". It fully supports 128 mode in 80 columns - a supremely great way to play text adventures. I'm loading it off my GFD-2000 from a d81 file I made of the original d64.

I love these four games that at the time did not run on the C64. I bought my C128DCR when I got back from West Germany so that I could play Beyond Zork.

COOL! I like to use my C64 the most for this because of the nostalgia. I also use my C128DCR sometime because many of the BBSes can be seen in 40 and 80 columns.

How many people still log onto the MANY BBSes that are still up and running. Some have been up since the 80s nonstop. I get onto them using my red UII+ on my C64 and cream UII+L on my C128DCR. #Commodore #Commodore64 #C64

I only got my very 1st VIC-20 in late 2021 so I do not know about the VIC-20. For the C64 and C128 there was GEOS and GEOS128 which had a word processor, desktop publishing app called geoPublish and a spreadsheet called geoCalc, geoPublish, Pagemaker and geoCalc. Here it is running on my C128DCR.

Yah not a lot of C128 software as you can see from my 2 tiny black C128 software cases. Also, Infocom made these 4 games that needed 128k so they were not released on the C64. I bought my C128DCR in 1988 just to play Beyond Zork.

For me it's the 1702 because that was my 1st ever computer CRT that I got for my birthday in February 1984. I got my 1701 with my C128DCR in September 2021. My 1701 has a high pitch wind up sound when 1st turned on. I use my 1701 with my VIC-20. I have my 1702 with my C64 from Xmas 1983.

There are still many BBSes still up and running. He I an visiting son on my C64 and also C128DCR.

No, I only have one C128DCR. I do have three flat C128s so you can say I have four C128s.
