After dessert (please see previous posts), we went to nearby Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, which is tucked into the very busy Nishiki market shopping street. It has natural spring water you can bottle and drink! It’s dedicated to the good of scholarship, so we had to get my Genius in there.
El doing temizu at the chozuya . There are big glowing white lanterns and shimezawa overhead. some of the sub-shrines. It’s night and everything looks glowy in the lantern light. El rubbing the nose of a bronze cow statue in a bib. You can rub the particular part that you are wishing and praying about, ex: its stomach re: pregnancy. The biggest omamori I have ever seen.

An informational plaque stands beside the weathered stone shrine, while the thick cushion of moss transforms the ancient rock into a living, breathing tapestry of green. The iconic pine-lined pathway of Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views. Ancient Japanese black pines arch gracefully over the sandy walking path that traverses this natural sandbar. Dappled sunlight filters through the gnarled branches, creating a play of light and shadow along the legendary bridge to heaven. Blue and white barriers mark the edges of this storied pathway, where thousands of windswept pines have stood sentinel for centuries across Miyazu Bay.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ A chozuya (purification fountain) with seven bamboo ladles resting on a bamboo pipe, water flowing from a dragon-headed spout. Auf dem Bild ist eine malerische Szene aus einem japanischen Shintō-Schrein zu sehen. Im Hintergrund sind Steinlaternen, Holzzäune und dichte Vegetation zu erkennen, die den Eindruck eines friedlichen, abgeschiedenen Schreingartens verstärken.

去桃園神社那麼多次，還沒拍過在手水舍洗手的照片耶，看到有人外拍在擺拍這場景，後面等到沒人的時刻，也給他來拍看看😜
另外，原本想拍跟狛犬合拍的照片，結果沒注意到全部照片擋的剛剛好，當下也找不到重拍的機會，只好下次再說🤣

Shidoji (志度寺) is temple 86 of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It is located in Sanuki, Kagawa Prefecture. The principal image (deity) of this temple is Juichimen Kannon (十一面観世音菩薩).

Shiromineji (白峯寺) is temple 81 of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It is located in Sakaide, Kagawa Prefecture. The principal image (deity) of this temple is Senju Kannon (千手観世音菩薩).

Zentsuji is in Kagawa, on Japan’s Shikoku Island. It’s temple 75 on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. This temple is especially famous—it's the birthplace of Kūkai, also known as Kobo Daishi. He founded the Shingon school of Buddhism, and started the entire Shikoku pilgrimage.

In Kyoto gibt es viele Shinto Schreine, bei denen man dieses Ritual machen sollte: Gleich nach dem Eingang findet man ein Wasserbecken, genannt Chôzuya. Dort wäscht man die Hände, manche trinken das Wasser sogar, um sich auch innerlich zu reinigen. Im Anschluß kann man den Schrein besuchen.

A little late, but I finally made it to a shrine for “hatsumode”, the first shrine or temple visit of the new year, to pray for a good one. (In Japan, visiting shrines and temples is often more of a tradition than a religious practice.)
The main shrine where you pray to the enshrined deity. 神社の本殿 The chozuya where you cleanse your hands and mouth before visiting the main shrine. 参拝する前に手と口を清める手水舎。 “Shin-boku”, a sacred tree, adorned with “shide”, white paper streamers.紙垂で飾られた神木。 Fortune slips, omikuji, tied to branches on the shrine premises, a common practice for visitors who receive their fortunes at the shrine.神社の敷地内にある木の枝に結び付けられたおみくじ。
