#Contextuality
There's a lot that Emily Hanford doesn't say in her reporting on SoR. Research on reading points to the complexity, nuance, contextuality, and diverse influences on becoming a successful reader. This is a great overview of a few of the issues with how journalists frame Science of Reading.

Had a great time in Paris!

Talked about our recent preprint arxiv.org/abs/2509.10949

#QuiDiQua3 was great, lots of greats discussions, and talks. Happy also to catch up on some good friends :)

Can't wait for #QuiDiQua4 (next year in Brussels!)

Contextuality Arises With Over 99% Probability In Random Quantum Preparations And Measurements, Study Finds
Researchers demonstrate that quantum contextuality, a key feature distinguishing quantum mechanics from classical physics, arises with a probability exceeding 99% even in experiments with limited, realistic data, though achieving substantial advantages from this phenomenon remains less common.

A thought-provoking essay about the contextuality of knowledge, featuring, as an aside, a phrase which struck me: "Shitposts are innocent, and inhabit the same epistemic ground as folktales." Feels right: they're not true, but they can reveal or encapsulate truths.

i also agree that release artifacts specifically codify how to insert themselves into an ecosystem, in the standard model. i failed to specifically distinguish the container methodology which is what actually undermines the contextuality of the term artifact

If you exponentiate shannon entropy, it behaves a whole lot like set cardinality :^) Would a singleton distribution with symmetry have negative information? Negative bits appear in interaction information—mutual information for more than two random variables—due to inclusion-exclusion—contextuality?
There's gadgetry we can already use to talk about sharing—groupoid cardinality describes the size of very symmetric objects. A singleton set with a G-action can be assigned cardinality 1/|G|

There's a shadow mathematics of formal negatives of realizable objects showing up in all sorts of places

(really sorry to keep using church terms, lol, but I think this is a good frame) for liberals we need to hold both “contextuality” and “catholicity”, there are things that aren’t just personal, but values and purposes that are universal and bind us to beliefs and actions too.
