Corpcomms. It's like being a writer, with even less payoff.

I tell people I bullshit for money. Sadly its mostly true. I also do intranet network development, but nobody understands or cares about that

For anyone looking for an easy way to fight climate change, I have a one-minute action: Write an email to the International Air Transport Association at [email protected] and ask them to include contrail management in their Environmental Assessment program.

We can drastically cut aviation's climate impact.
Re-routing 5% of flights avoids up to 80% of contrail warming.

No surprises here. This is the way I operated when I worked in house and managed #corpcomms teams.
PR Consolidation Is Forcing In-House Teams to Become the Agency
As consolidation reduces the number of PR agency partners and rising costs make retainers tougher to swallow, in-house teams are evolving.

Ownership friction between Marketing & Comms is real.
Brand. Social. Thought leadership. Storytelling.
Overlap is inevitable—so stop competing & start collaborating.
Ego is the enemy. The business should win.
How do you handle it?

Reminder: Every request a Comms. Leader gets is “a priority” to someone. BUT Comms Leaders look at COMPANY priorities ... not just one person or one team’s. Saying no protects budget, time, and audience attention. We’re not here for popularity. We’re here to make an impact. #corpcomms

Don't get too excited because this could mean a variety of things but I talked to someone from Houston First's CorpComms dept and they confirmed that AM does not currently have a date booked at the GRB for next year.

(names redacted in case this gets shared around because people get fucking weird)

Confusingly, JetBlue actually doesn't seem to think it offers connections at MIA/EKW. Its website only mentions MCO/FLL.

And when I explicitly asked CorpComms only says FLL/FBT is covered.

CorpComms War Stories:

New CEO is on CNBC.

Team is at HQ, watching...assessing his performance, making notes for our debrief when the cameras cut.

He's on script, doing great, feeling himself a bit.

Then...anchor pronounced his name incorrectly.

2x.

Our faces DROP into our pants + skirts.

Starlink. The milcomms and corpcomms satellite infra. That board? Ima just say we might don't know who, but we can plainly see why.

I used to have to sell at (not to, bc they didn’t care) PR agencies and CorpComms type and I was framing SEO, even in the late ‘00s, as “Google doesn’t want to get you to the destination. That’s not profitable. They need you to keep clicking so they can place ads. That’s why you add links, etc…

I’m obsessed that they chose to write the third one in an “urban twang” bc nothing screams authenticity like purposefully writing “‘cause” for “because” which is definitely a thing a poor would do. Definitely. That’s how we speak, so that’s how we’d write “ ‘cause” of course. Great job CorpComms!

One of my favorite airport #paxex amenities - water bottle refill fountains - is well represented here.

Also, a massive SkyClub I can't get into on my ticket tonight and CorpComms also said no to a visit today.

They were so happy to post from their personal handles while things were going smoothly, and hide behind that account now that they have a bit of a challenge in front of them.

Seems like an easy time to hire a head of corpcomms!
