Labour has been disappointing on #DecarbonisingTransport - this, but a focus on drivers, having neither reinstated the statutory council guidance on #ActiveTravel, nor delivered the ‘unprecedented funding’ initially promised.

#CarDependence is a public health issue as much as an environmental one.
To be clear, there is no silver bullet when it comes to sustainable flying. Green technology in aviation is simply aspirational at this time; demand management is the only option currently available, to address aviation's rapidly increasing carbon footprint!

Pushing airport expansion while rail travel languishes – so much for Labour’s green agenda | Polly Toynbee
The climate damage done by avoidable flying is huge, yet the government continues to see planes as the answer to its economic woes, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

If we have to have the lower Thames crossing, then it needs to include a rail line bypassing London. Otherwise it will do nothing to promote #DecarbonisingTransport

E-bikes have huge potential for #DecarbonisingTransport but only if the scare stories stop before they cause an evidence-free knee-jerk ban.

An e-cargo bike can move almost as much stuff just as fast as an EV in urban areas, on a fraction of the electricity

Is it once again an article that fails to differentiate between legal e-assist and illegal and fire-prone e-mopeds, which is an enforcement issue?

Stuff like this carried a real risk of undermining the potential benefits of e-assist for #DecarbonisingTransport

And we know what we need to do. The problem is doing it & doing it fast enough - for example #DecarbonisingTransport (which is a major part of *our* CO2 footprint - but we do little to make the switch to active/public transport fast enough & we need fewer, cleaner, cars & vans @libdemcycling.org.uk

This is very disappointing, especially if it's accompanied by a further freeze in fuel duty. Neither intervention will do anything to encourage necessary #ModalShift, especially in a #ClimateEmergency where above all we need less private car use for short journeys #DecarbonisingTransport
Awful decision. Increasing bus fares will harm patronage, hit those on the lowest incomes and do nothing to encourage modal shift away from cars. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I wonder why, if we’re serious about #DecarbonisingTransport, there isn’t a subsidy to ferry freight from e.g. Rosyth to Europe rather than trucking the length of the UK motorway network, and taking only marginally less time to do it?
